Magnetic Spyderco Tenacious? Apparently!

I recently noticed that my Spyderco Tenacious has been magnetized. I picked it up off a desk and was surprised to see a coin stuck to it! I'm no expert, but I'd have to guess that it has something to do with static electricity. I doubt the effect will last very long, but I thought it interesting, so here's a video of me sticking some dimes and a nickel to my knife. Enjoy! Update: Still magnetic. 8Cr13MoV must have magnetic properties...This is just begging to be modified with magnets.

A recipe for folding knife success: Start with hard-use rated lock. Add a blade made of exotic high carbon steel. Manufacture it in Golden, Colorado using precise tolerances then add a healthy dash of American innovation. These ingredients are the Manix2, a concoction of solo features when combined make one of the strongest knives from Spyderco to date. Patented by Spyderco, the Manix2 has a Ball Bearing Lock. It’s a hardened free-floating ball bearing contained in a custom hi-tech polymer cage. The round ball bearing allows the lock to self adjust across a large surface, smoothly and consistently locking-up with solid confidence. Evolving over time, the Ball Bearing Lock’s strength withstands hard work with a secure, versatile and comfortable grip. Ergonomics are peerless in this design. The blade is 154CM and hollow-ground with aggressive thumb serrations (jimping) above a super sized 14mm Spyderco Round Hole. The Jimping doesn’t stop there. With full steel liners the scales have jimping that extends beyond the G-10 handle scales scalloping areas of the handle’s perimeter. This one is not slipping out of your hand and works well with gloves on! The liners pull double purpose by adding rigidly and lightweight strength to the handle. A three-screw clip is left/right-hand carry, positioned for comfort and deep pocket carry. The knife also has a large lanyard pipe to protect various types of cords or thongs.

Spyderco Poliwog Folding Knife Review

!±8± Spyderco Poliwog Folding Knife Review

Here is a knife that hasn't had enough publicity. VG10 steel and a saber grind make this one solid medium sized folder.

The diminutive size is deceptive, because the edge this baby has on it can cut cardboard twice its size with ease. The handle is of stainless steel construction, and has artfully executed cutouts, making the knife look great while assisting with weight reduction.

The Poliwog has a ball lock, which functions similarly to Benchmade's Axis lock, for a very secure, "no finger danger" lockup.

This blade is made in Sekai no Machi, or seki city, Japan: where most companies have their more expensive blades ground and constructed due to the city's rich history and abundance of bladesmithing masters. Ergonomically, this knife is THE most comfortable knife I've ever held. It has four finger grooves, and is perfectly countered to become one with your hand. It also has a steel wire Spyderco pocket clip which works very nicely. This is a stylin' blade which doesn't sacrifice anything in terms of utility.

The Spyderco Poliwog opens with the trademark Spyderco Thumb hole, instead of a more common thumb stud. I find that the thumb hole is just as fast and easy to use as it's stud counterpart, but takes a little bit of practice and getting used to.

Specifications of the Spyderco Poliwog folding knife:

length overall: 5 5/8" (143 mm)
blade length: 2 5/16" (59 mm)
blade steel: VG-10
length closed: 3 3/8" (86 mm)
cutting edge: 1 7/8" (48 mm)
weight: 4.1 oz (116 g)
hole diameter: 15/32" (12 mm)
blade thickness: 1/8" (3 mm)
handle material: STAINLESS STEEL
